The Beacon Legal Group PLLC of Little Rock last month filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, which leads to liquidation.
The firm, which handles personal injury, mass torts and business law, listed assets at $460,747 and its debts at $1.02 million. The bulk of its assets — $456,800 — is pending law firm cases.
Attorney Benjamin McCorkle, a founding partner of the firm and its owner, lent the firm $73,300 on Jan. 1, and is listed as a creditor. The firm lists on its website McCorkle, Elizabeth Bowles, and Robert McDonald, of counsel, as its attorneys.
The firm’s largest creditor is Equal Access to Justice Fund Ltd. of West Palm Beach, Florida.
It is owed $759,000, and the debt was acquired in 2018, according to the filing.
The firm’s gross revenue in 2022 was nearly $44,000. In 2023, revenue was reported at $436,730. And through June 24, it was $32,340.
The firm said it has potential liability in a case pending in federal court in Arkansas filed by DWBI Investments LLC of Dallas. DWBI Investments filed the lawsuit in December and named the Beacon Legal Group and several others as defendants. DWBI alleged that it was owed at least $2.5 million as its portion of a case that was settled. That case is pending.
The firm is represented in U.S. Bankruptcy Court by Christopher McNulty of the Rose Law Firm of Little Rock. McNulty didn’t return a call for comment.
Beacon Legal Group said on its website that it is “dedicated to accomplishing excellence for the businesses, individuals and attorneys we work with. We engage the breadth of our collective experience to meet our clients’ needs and exceed their expectations.”
